Meet David

David Watts represents the next generation of Conservative Republican leadership. David is an accomplished business professional with more than 22 years of experience solving business problems, helping organizations become more efficient, and empowering them to reinvent themselves to better serve their clients. David is an accomplished project manager with a proven track record of real world results. David and his family have lived in East Texas for the past 14 years.

David's story began in Mobile, Alabama. Born to a young preacher and his wife, David and his brother moved around the country during their formative years. From Alabama, to California, to Colorado, and then to Texas, David began to develop an appreciation for the vastness of this nation at a young age.

The family settled in Deer Park, Texas for five years where David attended elementary school and junior high school. The family relocated just north to Humble, Texas where David finished junior high school and attended his freshman year of high school. The family next moved to Louisville, Kentucky where David finished high school and attended the University of Louisville.

After earning a Bachelors of Science in Political Science from the University of Louisville, David soon applied his interest in the political process to the real world. In 1992 he ran for State Representative as a conservative Republican in Kentucky’s 31st Legislative District. He urged a repeal of the newly increased state sales tax and an end to special exemptions for wealthy racehorse owners. As a delegate to the subsequent Jefferson County Republican Convention, he continued to champion conservative solutions.

David is also an FAA licensed Commercial Pilot and has previously served in the Civil Air Patrol, a United States Air Force Auxiliary. As a semi-professional photographer, one of his photographs was exhibited for most of 2008 in the Smithsonian Castle in Washington, D.C.

In 2012, he published his first novel, a historical fiction novel of the Korean War. Supported by more than five years of research and interviews with those who were there, Hope in Hungnam has received wide recognition for preserving an important part of the history of the Korean War. Hope in Hungnam was recently translated into Korean and is now available in South Korea.

David has also worked actively as a preacher and teacher, working as a full-time minister for more than six years. David has visited India on four occasions, traveling extensively within the southern areas of India to preach and teach in remote villages.

David has been married to his wife, Desiree Watts, for 24 years, and they have three children, ages 13, 15, and 17. They live in the East Texas Piney Woods on 19 acres between Gilmer and Longview.
